A little weekend bonus for you all with an update from Alvin Chan – who is quickly becoming a cherished friend of Bitique.
Alvin was in touch this week to let us know he’s updated his site with a new book – Grand Stand 2 – which has just come back from the printers so all we can say is roll and check it–

The next former tDR bod to take a bow is Si Billam. Si is currently an Art Director at Vast and a regular collaborator with Human Studio. Unit serves as a place for collaboration and experimentation.
I’m finding that all the former tDR chaps I’ve been in touch with so far have been nothing short of a joy to speak to and deal with and Si is certainly no different.
Roll and check people, roll and check–

All I know about these guys is that they are young Brazilan designers – and that they have some very nice work in their folio which is very much modernist in style, which is to my liking.
Roll and check–

Darren at Character Creative dropped us a line this week to tell us about a very interesting video of a 2003 lecture by David Carson that has just been uploaded to the TED site.
It’s well worth a viewing and brings back memories of collecge when Carson, Tomato et al were the talk of the town.

Our 2nd featured calendar and this one is from San Franciso based artist Julie Cloutier.
Calendar 09 is a collaborative project between Julie and Alexis Petty. The concept is to reduce the calendar to it’s graphical minimum. Available in an edition of 50 and hand screend onto 100% recycled paper it is available through their site as is a better explanation of the concept!

Design Auction 2009 is run by students and tutors from the 3rd year Graphic Design degree course at the Lincoln School of A&D.
This year’s event sees a collaboration with St. Bride printing library and will feature a new ‘lowercase’ auctioneer, Michael Johnson of Johnson Banks. Lots have already been received from Hudson Bec, YCN, Studio8, Magma, John McConnell, Spin and This is True North with many more to be confirmed.

Dan Clarke, the man behind Everything You Touch is a personal friend of Bitique. When he sent us an update of his website I thought we must show some of his work. He produces work generally for interactive projects but also printed media with his unique blend of minimal yet playful illustration.

The wonderfully named Kipi Ka Popo is designer, illustrator and toy maker Lydia Lapinski who is number 2 in our theme of former tDR bods. Lydia works out of her own studio in Sheffield having previously spent 6 years at Studio Output and tDR.
I don’t think I need to say anything other than roll and check it–

The chaps over at Barcelona based Toormix have launched a new and more funtional site. I have to admit I do love a site when all I have to do is click the ‘next’ button to view the work.
