GrafikCache

Sad news for those of us who like a bit of daily design goodness in our diets is that the GrafikCache is no more. I emailed David to check on the situation after visiting the site yesterday and it appears that the very high standards he has set himself through his quality posts – and the dedication that requires – were proving difficult to keep alongside a a very busy schedule actually doing some design rather than just blogging about it.

For me GrafikCache was one of the very best design blogs out there, often being the first with new work from the well known studios/designers and also introducing us to new and exciting work that was always from the top drawer.

Hopefully we will see David and the GC return in the not too distant future.

Kent Lyons

Apologies to Noel – the Lyons in Kent Lyons – for taking a couple of weeks to post about their new ‘Typeblockraphy’ screensaver. Inspired by one of their Helvetica posters, but now using Akzidenz Grotesk, it is available to download via the Kent Lyons blog.

May I show you my portfolio

Great little article over on Design Observer by Michael Beirut on the subject of showing his portfolio in 1979 whilst job hunting in New York. An excellent read as always from my favorite design writer.

A brand for London

You may or may not know that there is a public tender to create a new brand for London. One company pitching will be Moving Brands who have also taken the unusual move of designing their proposition in public via a new blog.

It’s a great idea and really interesting to see the thought processes of one of the best branding agencies around.
