Don’t Panic

Don’t Panic have been in touch with news of their latest competition brief to celebrate the publication of Penguin paperback The Left Hand of God. They are looking for is an artistic representation of the lead character Thomas Cale and entrants can use any printable media they choose to create an interpretation using the text provided.

The top ten entries will be judged by Penguin andthe top three get the chance to win prizes, including £350 worth of Penguin books, signed copies of book and their design in the book as well as on the infamous Don’t Panic poster.

Democracy

The Democracy site is now live and you can take part by submitting a piece of work or just by commenting on and voting for the work submitted by other. The deadline for entries is the30th September – so get cracking!

The exhibition that will take place in October as part of Design Event 09 – the North East Design Festival – with a book to be launched at the show itself.

The Box Project

Ellesse 50 winner

You may remember earlier in the year we told you about a competition run by Ellesse asking artists, designers and all round general creative types to produce a piece based on Ellesse’s prominence in the tennis world.

Well – this is the overall winner produced by 31 year Korean photographer Yang Yoo-Jin.

House of cards

Join Damien Hirst, David Bailey and Vivienne Westwood in designing the ultimate deck of cards for Shelter. This competition is open to anyone with the winner creating artwork to be exhibited at the Haunch of Venison Gallery and also receive two tickets for the launch party.

The brief is to design the front of the “8 of Clubs” playing card in the most imaginative way. Finished work must represent the eight of Clubs playing card – but interpreted in any way you want.

The website will be launched on the 13th of July – and you will be able to upload your entry from then.

Ellesse is 50

Iconic Italian sportswear brand Ellesse celebrates it’s 50th birthday this year. As part of their celebrations they are holding a competition to create a piece of art, or design, inspired by the brand’s Italian and sporting heritage.

Prizes up for grabs include $6,500 and VIP tickets to the 50th anniversary party, to be held in Italy.
