Here’s a very nice piece of print – that I had the please of seeing on my travels last week – from Manchester based designer Dave Sedgwick.Take it away Dave:

“The printed piece was created as an exercise in design, photography and consideration of paper stocks. I worked very closely with award winning photography duo Shaw & Shaw as well as with GF Smith papers to produce the piece.

The project began life as a discussion between myself and GF Smith’s Jane Crowther as an opportunity to showcase the variety of different paper stocks that could be used to print digitally. We talked about the possibility of producing a limited edition (only 250 printed) promotional piece that could be sent out to a collection of designers and creatives based mainly in the North of England.

The aim of ‘limited edition’ was to highlight Craft and Design in the North of the UK and for the first piece we chose to work with the Craft and Design Centre in Manchester as it has recently celebrated its 30th anniversary and is a perfect venue in which to promote and feature.

Shaw and Shaw produced some lovely photography for the piece and we were lucky to receive a quote from the new patron of the centre, Elbow’s Guy Garvey.

This is the first in what we plan to be a series of printed pieces promoting and showcasing a variety of handcrafts, traditonal methods and original techniques.”

London based musician, Dave Bold asked Bold and Bold  to help promote his guitar lessons. They created a set of plectrums with his details on that were stuck onto the neck of fake guitars and rigged up on bicycle locks outside the London Acoustic Guitar Show. These were designed to draw visitors in to interact with the display and take a plectrum.

The Look Book 02 is a selection of representative commercial and non-commercial projects by AIM, including projects from 2011 and 2012. The book was released as a small limited edition.AIM (always in motion) is the synonym of the multidisciplinary designer Christian Dueckminor and the name of his designstudio founded in 2006, located near Munich. AIM specialises in visual communication offering graphic design, print design, motion graphics and interactive media.

This beautiful little book has been created by London studio Hat-trick to display 146 projects produced over the last 10 years.

From a list of over 1000 projects the guys at Hat-trick had the task of condensing it down to the 146 that would eventually make it into the book. Written by Nick Asbury working under a brief of using the fewest number of words possible the quality of the work is left to speak for itself.
